Hi, I'm Nailah!
Pronounced ny-ee-la. Welcome to my corner of the internet.
If you’ve been wondering about me, first thing to know is my history with property care runs deep.
I’ve managed apartment rentals with my parents since the early 2000s for close to 25 years. I also come from property owners going back 5 generations. So when it comes to being responsible for a property, many things about it are second nature by now.
Being at the forefront of this industry wasn’t always the plan though.
As my parents’ understudy, I managed those rentals part-time like they did while focusing on my own passion: becoming a fulltime researcher. Did my masters as a Fulbright Scholar and moved back home in June 2015 ready to kick off that career.
Then my mom died ten months later.
It was a sudden loss with so much to cope with between grief, taking over many of her responsibilities (the rentals included) and very real frustration with how my research career was going. So I took time to heal, carried my skills to non-profit and education jobs and studied what I hadn’t before:
Permaculture design
Tropical agriculture
Landscaping
Interior design
Real estate sales
I learned as much as I could to boost what I already knew about property care and years later, while running the research business I started after leaving education, I started documenting my process for taking care of properties.
I took note of everything from the most reliable service providers to the best ways to track maintenance history. I studied Caribbean homeowners split between home and countries they moved to. And being neurodivergent on my own journey from scattered to centered, I thought about what kept me organized and how to bring it to more people.
Eventually, I realized who my focus needed be: homeowners like you.
From the Caribbean
Constantly busy
Managing a home long distance
Not using that property for rent or short term stays
With the vision finally clear, I started this business in 2024, juggled both for two years then shut down the first to go all in with property maintenance. And I haven’t looked back since.
I think for you being a homeowner has a bigger purpose than the title.
It’s about the asset in your name, the legacy you’re starting/carrying on and the tie you keep to your homeland. The effort to hold onto your home is worth it–but it’s a balancing act that takes a lot out of you too. So as I continue supporting my dad and building on what my ancestors started, I want to help you keep it in the best shape possible whether or not you're here in person.
Let’s put together a system that really meets you where you are.
What matters to me
Trust
At the top of the list for a reason. You should always feel safe leaving me in charge of your home, which is why I take this work as seriously for you as I do for my own family.
Who’s allowed on your property, the way your records are stored, how we stay connected while you’re gone. It all matters.
Collaboration
Especially in the beginning, I’m big on this one. I ask for feedback and share thoughts often and welcome it from you too.
Over time we’ll know where to be more hands off but expect us to check in with each other a lot upfront so your system really suits your home and lifestyle.
Quality work
I choose the best service providers I know and work with your top picks for home too. To me, the higher standards are out the gate the less likely you are to do twice (or more!) what coulda been done right the first time.
Practicality
I want to make property care easier for you to keep up with while you’re gone. You came to me for help so this would feel less like extra work and more like a natural part of your life. So I make sure the solutions built for you reflect that.
Some extra lore while you're here...
I’m from Trinidad & Tobago, born and raised, and for now my client base is here. But taking this regional and global is absolutely the goal too.
I first got into astrology during grad school and the deeper my practice (which is pretty traditional leaning) goes, the more it just HITS. And I really like how well it works with African Diaspora Religions (ADRs).
I don't have published work yet but another passion of mine is writing. Been enjoying fiction writing for fun and have a few culture articles sitting in drafts while I figure out the best home for them.
